Kai Dolan was born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan. Growing up surrounded by water and with a dad who was a dedicated sailor, Kai was exposed to the sport from a young age. She began sailing in the local Traverse Area Community Sailing (TACS) program, and she was immediately hooked. Kai worked her way through the program over the years, moving from Optis and Lasers to 420s and Melges 24s. A year after completing the program at TACS, she began working there, teaching kids the same way she was taught. Kai then began sailing at her local yacht club on Wednesday nights and weekends, and racing on her high school sailing team.

Kai enjoys buoy racing on one-design boats such as Interlakes and Melges 24s and offshore racing on J/111s and bigger boats like Farr 395s throughout Michigan. After taking a break from racing the last couple of years, Kai is excited to get back on the water.

In the latter half of 2020, Kai joined Quantum on a contracted, part-time basis as a Client Care Representative. Her role shifted throughout the years and now she is focused on marketing, but will still be in the loft to greet and help customers. “I’m excited for my future in the industry, both with my personal sailing and at Quantum. I’m lucky to have found a group of people I enjoy working with and who I continuously learn from.”

Following graduation from high school, Ben transitioned to coaching at Crescent Sail Yacht Club, later becoming head coach and, subsequently, overseeing high school sailing programs at Brother Rice and Marian high schools. Ben pursued higher education at Western Michigan University, earning a degree in sales and business marketing. In 2020, Ben's entrepreneurial spirit and love for sailing converged when he established the Detroit Sailing Company, which specializes in rigging, apparel, and hardware.

Alain Sign grew up on the south coast of the UK on the Solent strait, and has lived in the south coast towns of Weymouth, Southampton and now Portsmouth. He was lucky enough to live five minutes from Stokes Bay Sailing Club, where his older brothers taught him to sail. Alain started sailing in Toppers and progressed through the RYA system, sailing 29ers, 420s, 470s, and then in 49ers, where he spent 12 years in the class sailing with Dylan Fletcher.

Alain has been lucky to make a living in Olympic sailing. He chose not to go to university in order to follow his dream of going to the Olympics, an education in itself as campaigning taught him many life skills. Since 2004, Alain has been involved in the Olympic sailing program, where he has won European and World Championship medals in the 49er class. He finished his Olympic sailing career in the 2016 games in Rio.

Alain has been coaching at a high level in the Olympic sailing scene for the last decade. When he’s at home, he enjoys sailing his Musto skiff and wing foiling. Recently, he has been involved with the Cape 31 Class and J/111 sailing, offering coaching when possible.

“I know the Hamble loft manager Rory Maclean very well and when he heard I was looking to do more sailing out in the Solent, we met and he asked if I’d like to be involved with Quantum. I’m excited to work in sales where I can offer a range of tailored services to customers to bring maximum enjoyment out on the water. I am looking forward to working with Quantum to gain more understanding of the materials used and how I can work with them to make all kinds of boats go faster.”
