VSPARS is a revolutionary, deck-mounted sail and rig visualization system that tracks and calculates the sail shape and position in real time. Specially designed cameras mounted on the boat are connected to proprietary software, which runs on a conventional laptop. The integrated system outputs full details about each sail and the rig deflection to an on-deck display, allowing trimmers to replicate previous targets. VSPARS sail and rig vision also interface with boat data so that sail shapes can be saved to a database linked to boat speed, TWS, heel angle and other user-defined variables. The VSPARS sail and rig vision system is installed on board Quantum Racing, contributing data valuable not only for racing, but also the sail testing and verification process integral to Quantum's iQ Technology™ process.
