Doug Burtner

Doug Burtner has been making, selling, and servicing sails since 1998.

A true veteran of the sail making craft, Doug started making sails when he was 20 years old. After four years of making and repairing sails, he became the head salesman for Haarstick Sailmakers while still being involved with computer cutting, production, and inspection of all new sails.

Customers around Rochester know Doug for his positive approach to sailing, and they always enjoy having him on the boat with them. From small dinghies to large cruising yachts, he has knowledge of what the customer needs for maximum enjoyment. Part of his responsibilities also include managing our involvement with all Nonsuch and Collegiate FJ & 420 sails for all of Quantum Sails. Doug is also proud to be a big part of Quantum's Ensign class team, where he oversees production of all upwind sails.

In addition to his sail making skills, Doug is an expert in outfitting boats with cruising hardware. From sail tracks to custom furlers, Doug knows what works! A true customer advocate, Doug is always looking out for ways to make sailing more enjoyable and economical too.

When Doug is not making sails or sailing with customers, he's home working on his house and spending time with his three lovely ladies: wife, Erin, and two daughters, Charlotte and Caroline.

Travis Odenbach

Travis Odenbach rose to the top of the One Design circuit in multiple classes in a short amount of time. A native of Rochester who grew up sailing in the Rochester Yacht Club, his first race experience as a boy was on a Laser. As a member of a sail racing family, he crewed with his parents on their family C&C 37 R and later their Concordia 47.

At age 20 he bought himself a J22 and worked hard to have success on the race course. This led to his first job in the sailing industry with Waterline Systems. As a young sailor, he worked with experts from sail companies who helped him learn the business and fine tune his racing skills. It's this experience that drives Travis to do the work he does today. He now consults other sailors to help them have the best possible experience on the water and he loves being able to give back to the sport in this way.

His career has taken him from North Sails to Haarstick Sailmakers and now to Quantum Sails Rochester. During this time he has polished his skills as a one-on-one sales consultant who specializes in One Design sails and works with sailors all over the world. He is an accomplished member of Quantum's team of J/22, J/24, and J/70 class experts. He also enjoyed sailing Moths from 2014-2017.

In the J/24 class, Travis has won the North Americans and finished in the top three multiple times at Nationals, North Americans, and Worlds. In the Beneteau First 36.7 class he's helped win three North American championships, and in the J/22 class he has multiple top-five finishes at the world and North American championships. Around the country you can find Travis winning many regional events driving his own J/24 or helping customers on J/70s, J/24s, J/22s and other larger boats. Some of his career highlights included a division win on a Carkeek HPR 40 in the 2016 Annapolis-to-Newport regatta, Third at J/24 Worlds in 2013 and 2015, and 2nd at J/22 worlds in 2021. He enjoys sailing his Melges 15 when he is not working.

Samantha Webster

Growing up in Toronto, Sam started sailing at the age of nine and began racing at the age of 13. She spent much of her childhood racing competitively in Laser II's and Bytes at her home club, the Royal Canadian Yacht Club.

Sam went on to campaign the Yngling on the International Circuit for three years as part of the Canadian National Team. After her campaign, she got more involved in offshore sailing and racing. Sam's pursuit for offshore experience led her to complete a Sydney to Hobart race and Transatlantic race; she placed first in their division for the Transat. Sam currently spends the majority of her time racing in one-design fleets such as J/24, J/22, J/80, and J/70 and match-racing in Sonars.

In addition to her sailing accomplishments, Sam has 20 years of experience coaching and developing programs at different yacht clubs around the world, including Royal Canadian YC, Middle Harbour YC (AUS), US Sailing Center (Jensen Beach), San Diego YC, Royal Newfoundland YC, and Watch Hill YC (RI). She has coached all different levels, from beginners to provincial/state and national teams. Sam has also been on the other side of racing, running multiple regattas and acting as race manager and/or PRO to provincial and national championships.
