Specializing in J-boat one design sails, John Whynacht and Quantum Maritimes focus on performance sailing, rigging, and coaching. As a one design sailor and boat shop owner, John has worked on a wide range of boats, from Optimists to offshore cruisers.

John has extensive experience with the J/24 class, finishing third at the 2009 Canadian J/24 Nationals and first in 2010, when he won all nine district events that same year. In addition to J-boats, he’s also won regattas in Laser, Bluenose, Sonar, Kirby 25, and Etchells 22 classes. John’s not just a racer, though. He grew up cruising, and has sailed and explored the islands in Atlantic Canada.

For John, sailing isn’t just a profession – it’s his passion. Combining the Quantum brand, recognized world-wide for speed and quality, with his expertise, he provides the best products and service to his clients. Whether he’s working with racers or cruisers, John’s goal is to help everyone enjoy their boats more, be it learning new skills, making their boats easier to handle, or finding that extra bit of speed to help them reach the podium.
