February 1, 2016 “I have a new Quantum sail and I would like to know what to look for when I adjust the batten tension on the main sail. I have a full batten at the top and I can get good shape in light air on starboard but can't get it to change to port no matter what I do, tight or loose. What do I look for? By the way, I sail in Colorado.”

It sounds like when you tack or gybe the top batten doesn't "pop" onto the other tack. Some times this happens when going downwind and the vang is too loose. The wind in Colorado can be super light or super windy. It's hard to make one batten work in both types of conditions. You may have a good medium to heavy-air batten. If you would like a light-air batten, feel free to contact a nearby Quantum loft for the right batten and help getting this sorted out.
