February 1, 2016 “How do I adjust my Star jib stay sag?”

The jib is really designed so you don’t have to worry about adjusting the sag of the luff in light to moderate wind. If you make sure that you don’t have any upper backstay tension on in light to medium air and only enough lower to make the main right you will have the right sag. You may only want to experiment with some upper tension in very flat-water conditions by taking out some sag. In strong winds especially considering your weight you want to try to take out sag with a lot of upper and lower backstay tension. I have even added a purchase to by upper backstay for this purpose. If you only tighten the upper you will have too much bend. If you tighten both you will get more headstay tension.
