The only difference is when you use the jib halyard you are effecting the leech tension so you have to be aware of this. In practice I don’t think it makes much difference. In 7460, I used the jib halyard for luff tension and in 7592, I use the jib downhaul. There is a bit less tension on the luff downhaul so it's a bit easier to pull.
