Brad Van Liew Makes History with Velux 5 Oceans Win

Brad Van Liew sailed into the record books with his victory in the Velux 5 Oceans. Not only did he dominate the small fleet in this 30,000-mile, solo challenge, he added several firsts to his resume including:

• The first American to race solo around the world three times.

• The first American to win the Velux 5 Oceans, formerly called the Around Alone and, before that, the BOC Challenge.

• First sailor in the 29-history of the Velux 5 Oceans to have taken clean sweeps in two races (having also won each leg of the 2003/3 edition in class two).

Congratulations to Brad and his entire team!
