Mike Considine has been a fixture in Chicago's sailing community for nearly four decades, combining his expertise in sailmaking with a lifelong passion for sailing and helping others get the most from their boats.

Since 1988, Mike has worked at his family's Chicago sail loft, UK Sailmakers, gaining hands-on experience in every aspect of sail construction, design, development and repair. Working alongside lead designer Pat Considine, he has helped develop race-winning sail designs for offshore racing and one-design fleets, while also helping cruising sailors select and maintain sails suited to their boats and sailing needs.

Mike's expertise extends beyond the sails themselves. He works directly with racing and cruising customers on sail selection, rigging, sail handling and trim, helping them improve performance, ease of handling and confidence on the water.

A standout junior sailor in Chicago and accomplished collegiate racer in the Midwest, Mike has spent decades competing at a high level and helping others win. He regularly sails with customers as a coach, trimmer and tactician, bringing practical expertise and a competitive perspective to every program.

His coaching experience includes offshore racing teams, collegiate and high school sailing programs, as well as one-design racing clinics and sail trim seminars for larger boats. He has competed in offshore events around the world and remains an active presence on the Chicago racing scene.

Today, Mike continues to work directly with sailors to improve boat performance, refine sail selection and trim, and help them achieve their goals, whether cruising comfortably or competing at the front of the fleet. When he's not sailing with customers, you'll often find him racing MC Scows at the top of the fleet.

For Mike, great sails and great sailing have always gone hand in hand.
