Andrew Estcourt started sailing Optimists in Napier, New Zealand, when he was eight years old, continued through the dinghy circuit, winning the Tanner Cup in 1990, and regularly competed in regattas all over the country. Andrew is a graduate of the prestigious RNZYS youth program, where he skippered a team to victory in the 1994 Governor's Cup. In 2003, after a stint in Olympic classes in which Andrew campaigned a 49er with crew Jon Bilger, Andrew became part of the OneWorld America's Cup campaign in Auckland. This experience gave him valuable exposure to all areas of a major sailing program. After the OneWorld campaign, Andrew sailed the World Match Racing Tour and other keelboat circuits.

Andrew's success in small keelboats goes back a long way to Melges 24s and larger one-design classes such as Melges 32s, Farr 40s, and RC44s. Today, most people think of Andrew as a mainsheet trimmer who is able to help owners and helms get the best performance out of their boats.

One of the original crew onboard the successful RC44 Team Aqua, Andrew's winning resume includes five tour championships and world titles, making him one of the sport’s leading trimmers. His extensive knowledge has made a significant impact on teams in the TP52 Super Series.

More recently, Andrew has been focused on the RC44 and TP52 classes, in which he's benefited from involvement with Quantum's iQ technology. "The information flow and technology with Quantum is topnotch, and I am looking forward to working more closely with the company." Andrew's knowledge of a number of competitive platforms gives him the perfect background and education to help sailors with their sail design needs.

Mario Trindade was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He started cruising with his family as a newborn and racing on Snipes and IMS boats.

In 2008, Mario became a professional sailor. After a decade in the industry, he decided to pursue a degree in yacht design at Solent University in the U.K. His time at Solent allowed him to develop his skills and advance to the next level of Grand Prix sailing and technology development.

An experienced trimmer, Mario has competed in multiple Grand Prix and One-Design Classes and has won numerous titles, including the 2019 J/70 World Championship, 2021 SB20 World Championship, and multiple South American and National championships. He also has experience on the match racing circuit.

In addition to his successful sailing career, Mario operated a business focused on the racing yacht industry and served as project manager and boat captain on various projects. He is now the Grand Prix sail designer at the Quantum Palma de Mallorca loft.

Brett Jones started sailing with his father when he was five years old. Without high school racing teams, Brett competed at local clubs in Sydney, Australia racing year round. Sailing a variety of boats, including cherubs, skiffs, and eventually keel boats, he raced every weekend until he left school.

After graduating high school, Brett learned to be a sail maker and continued to race on the weekends. One of his employers owned an ocean racing boat and invited Brett to join him. One thing led to another, and Brett found himself in the United States and Europe meeting people and competing. His experiences eventually landed him a spot on his first America's Cup team.

After the 2007 America's Cup, Brett decided to expand his experiences even further to make himself a more valuable member of the team. "In the America's Cup, if you're just a sailor you limit yourself," he said. "I had done a lot of development with sail designers, and I thought I could increase my value by having that skill set." Quantum Sails approached Brett about designing with them, and he joined the team in 2008.

Having sailed in several America's Cups and all the classic yacht races, Brett brought his own unique blend of sailing and design experience to the Quantum design team. Working mostly with Soto 40, RC 44, TP 52, IRC classes and various yachts, the combined experiences of Brett and the Quantum team make it possible to provide all of his customers with the best service and sails. "We're one of the more open design groups," he said. "We feed off each other and keep things open. We share designs and information that we can then share with the customers. This helps us influence the sail design and performance of boats to better help our customers."
