Mainsails

Star Mainsail 46

The 46 is our straight-down-the-middle, versatile all-purpose mainsail, designed for maximum control, balance, and power in every condition. Built with premium Dimension-Polyant cloth, it delivers outstanding durability and shape retention across the wind spectrum. Proven at the highest level, the 46 placed 1st at the San Diego World Championship and 2nd at the Perth World Championship.

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, telltales, and tackline. Draft stripes available. This product may be ordered directly, through your local rep, or a class expert.

Star Mainsail 59

The 59 is a modern evolution of the historic Z-4, bringing a classic floor-pattern shape into precise computer design for a cleaner, smoother sail. Featuring a similar luff curve to the 46 but with a flatter profile, it offers responsive balance and speed. The 59 is an ideal all-around choice, particularly for lighter crews.

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, telltales, and tackline. Draft stripes available. This product may be ordered directly, through your local rep, or a class expert.

Star Mainsail 60

The 60 uses the same panel layout as the 59 but is built with heavier sailcloth and reduced luff curve. Designed for medium-to-strong breeze and chop, as well as light air in flat water, the design allows for increased lower runner tension to pull a tighter forestay in heavy air. It proved its speed with a 1st-place finish at the Western Hemisphere Championship.

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, telltales, and tackline. Draft stripes available. This product may be ordered directly, through your local rep, or a class expert.

Headsails

Star Jib P-16

The P-16 is our fullest jib and the primary go-to option across every condition. Engineered for depth, drive, and wide wind range crossovers, it features a forgiving entry for maximum power. The P-16 is a top-tier performer, boasting multiple North American Championship victories and a 2nd-place finish at the World Championship.

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, and telltales. Draft stripes available.

Star Jib P-21

The P-21 is a full tri-radial jib designed specifically for wavy and choppy conditions. Featuring a fuller forward section and more twist than the P-16, it keeps the boat driving powered-up through rough water. The P-21 demonstrated its performance with a 1st-place finish at the Western Hemisphere Championship.

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, and telltales. Draft stripes available. This product may be ordered direct, through your local rep, or a class expert.

George Szabo

George grew up in San Diego racing Stars, Lasers and Snipes. As a kid, he made sails for his model boats before eventually taking a part-time job with Quantum during high school and college. He came on full-time in 1993 as a sailmaker and designer.

Using the latest computer design programs, George is able to create the fastest, most efficient sails for smaller One Design boats. This technology, combined with his intimate understanding of One Design sailing, allows him to create the most versatile sails available. The San Diego loft designs a variety of One Design sails, including Thistle and Lido 14, but their specialties are Olympic Class Star and Snipe boats.

George is the 2009 Star World Champion, as well as an 21-time National/North American Champion. In addition to his sail-making abilities and wins, he is also an accomplished keelboat tactician and trimmer.

John Jenkins

John Jenkins grew up in Baltimore, MD, sailing Penguins and Stars on Gibson Island before beginning his sailmaking career in New York and then Annapolis. He spent 40 years running the sail loft at the United States Naval Academy, designing and building more than 7000 sails for dinghies, cruising boats, and race boats up to 80 feet. His work at the Naval Academy allowed him to race many of the Navy boats, as well as Stars and a Cal 25 locally.

Today, John sails on his Star at the Miles River Yacht Club in St Michaels, MD, and crews on various Log Canoes during their summer racing season. When reflecting on the sailing experiences that shaped him most, John’s mind goes straight to the raw intensity of the 1980 Star Worlds in San Francisco, where he battled extreme conditions, and to the miles that followed: racing Siren Song, an S&S 60, up to Newport, and cruising aboard American Promise, a Hood 61, on the passage to Bermuda.

In 2010, John opened Jenkins Sails, joining forces with Quantum in 2026.
