Star Mainsails

Star Mainsail 50

The 50 is our fullest mainsail. The full top sections help you get your crew over the side sooner, and the overall depth profile gives you plenty of power for light-to-medium air venues. Consider the 50 as your best sail for San Diego or Viareggio, both venues with oversized swell and chop, or in Miami up to 15 knots. The extra fullness also makes the sail quicker sailing downwind as well.

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, telltales, and tackline. Draft stripes available.

Star Mainsail 57

The 57 sail is designed with a flatter bottom third to help the sail go faster in venues with shorter chop and in venues with flatter water. This sail also performs well for lighter teams and for days when you just know it is going to be windy all day long. The 57 is more sensitive to outhaul inputs, so in lighter air you’ll be playing the outhaul more. This is a sail well suited for inshore choppy water sailing.

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, telltales, and tackline. Draft stripes available.

Star Mainsail Z-4

This sail won its first World Championship in 1994, and it continues to surprise us with its time-tested speed. It won the NAs again in 2021 and was third in 2023. Fuller in the bottom and flatter in the top compared to most of our sails, this sail is still preferred by many sailors in light-to-medium venues. The Z-4 gives crews an unmatched level of control, balance, and power in every condition.

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, telltales, and tackline. Draft stripes available.

Star Mainsail 46

The 46 is our straight down the middle, all-purpose mainsail. It gives crews an outstanding level of control, balance, and power in every condition. Constructed of premium Dimension Polyant cloth, this design is durable, providing power and shape retention across the conditions.

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, telltales, and tackline. Draft stripes available.

Star Headsails

Star Jib P-16

This is our fullest jib, and is also our all-around go-to jib for every condition. All of our Star jibs are optimized for a larger wind range cross-over. Designed for depth and power, the P-16 is a top performer, finishing second at the Worlds in 2022 and winning the North Americans in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, and telltales. Draft stripes available.

Star Jib P-17

With a more open head and powerful lower sections to drive through waves, the P-17 is designed for breeze. We find the sail performs better in medium-to-strong winds, but it can also be sailed down-range and is versatile, as all of our Star jibs are optimized for a larger wind range cross-over.

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, and telltales. Draft stripes available.

Star Jib P-2C

he P-2C has a slightly flatter mid and bottom section, compared to the P-12 and P-16. In light air you may need to move your lead more forward to get the fullness required to go fast, so pay close attention to your jib sheet angle. The P-2C was the winner in the 2009 World Championships,

INCLUDES: Battens, vision windows, roll bag, royalties, and telltales. Draft stripes available.

George Szabo

George grew up in San Diego racing Stars, Lasers and Snipes. As a kid, he made sails for his model boats before eventually taking a part-time job with Quantum during high school and college. He came on full-time in 1993 as a sailmaker and designer.

Using the latest computer design programs, George is able to create the fastest, most efficient sails for smaller One Design boats.
