Quantum Sails Partners With Cape 31 Class

Quantum Sails has renewed its gold partnership with the Cape 31 class as sponsor of the class’s upcoming six-event UK Series for 2023. The Cape 31 Class is one of the fastest-growing one design classes in the world, providing fun, competitive and affordable one design racing in a professional and fair way, and with a friendly vibe both on and off the water.

Since 1996, Quantum Sails has provided sailors with top-quality equipment, performing at the highest level from the race course to cruising destinations around the globe. By utilizing the latest technology in sail design and manufacturing methods, and a team of top experts, Quantum produces sails that are unmatched in performance, consistency, and repeatability. Quantum’s focus on sustainability, from solar-powered facilities to recycled sail materials, ensures generations to come will have the opportunity to enjoy sailing on cleaner waters.

“Quantum is excited to see this new class take off at the level it has, and to be a part of the growth,” says Ed Reynolds, President of Quantum Sails. “The Cape 31 is one of the most relevant, exciting, and affordable one design classes out there. We’re committed to helping the sport grow, and to expanding opportunities for new and young sailors. Quantum works hard to support the growth of sailing, and the Cape 31 class is an integral part of that process.”

“The Cape 31 Class are delighted to have Quantum Sails as Class Partners for the second year running,” says Cape 31 class representative Tor Tomlinson Cheney, “Their support is invaluable to the Class and we look forward to working with them to keep this awesome class going fast into the future.”

“We are really excited to be continuing our sponsorship of the class and are fully invested into ensuring that we are building the fastest sails possible,” says Quantum Sails UK’s Rory Maclean, “We are bringing a wealth of experience in terms of design that has provided us with success in the TP52 class, the RC44s, the various Melges classes, and other one design classes to the Cape 31. Brett Jones has been at the forefront of grand prix sail design for a number of years and he is spearheading the design of our sails for this class. We look forward to continuing to develop the product we have, ensuring our customers are getting results and being here to help anyone within the class with whatever they may need. We are uniquely situated right in Hamble and are always ready and willing to service the class during regattas.”

"Our first sail trial showed that the Cape 31 is fun, fast, and well-equipped," says Quantum Sails France's Adrien de Belloy, who sailed aboard Team Vision’s Cape 31 earlier in the month. "We're excited to sail on this new platform, with the same amount of fun, and with the same professional and Corinthian team we've sailed with in the past. We plan to race as much as possible and look forward to the expansion of the class as it quickly attracts more teams."

The first of the six-event series is the RORC Vice Admirals Cup in Cowes from May 19-21st, followed by the Cape 31 National Championship hosted by the Royal Lymington Yacht Club. For a full schedule of events and more class information, visit https://www.cape31class.com
