I never change the upper shrouds as the wind changes. I have been sailing with the lowers a bit looser in light winds then tightening 1/2 turn on the lowers in medium winds and in very strong wind putting back to the light wind setting.  If the lower is too tight in the very strong wind the main breaks up too much. I set the mast so there is a leeward side bend in the middle in light air, the mast then becomes straight in around 10 knots and the mast bends sideways in at least above 14 knots. It is not a radical amount but a slight even curve. Looking at the photos from training with Joe before the 96 Worlds in maybe 16 knots of wind the sidebend is slight and nice and even.
