There has been a trend forward on the jibstay.  In the early 70's most boats were adjustable and it was decided that max aft was the best.  I know when I got 7288 Folli moved it forward a bit then the race began with first Lillia going way forward then everyone going that way.  7805 is 16 mm further forward then 7829 which was 22mm further forward then 7592. I'm not sure how much difference it makes because it doesn't seem to have made anyone move their masts at all. I would think that it should be better to separate the sails as much as possible but I also keep thinking of how in a lot of testing in the late 60's and early 70's it was decided by people like North, Bennet and Buchan that max aft was best.
