Born in 1974 in Vigo, Spain, Alberto started sailing at age nine with his brother Antonio. He and his brother shared their father's passion for the sea. After a successful youth career competing in the Cadet and 420 Classes at national and international levels, Alberto jumped into the 470 Class and began campaigning for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
After sparring for a spot on the Spanish Olympic team, Alberto moved to Sweden where he learned the sailmaking trade. He also had the opportunity to coach the 470 Swedish National Team. In 2005, he returned to Spain and combined coaching with professional racing in IMS and TP52 circuits and various one-design classes. He spent five years as the Technical Director of the Galician Sailing Federation.
In 2015, Alberto started his own marine and sail service business in his hometown of Vigo. Now he is an authorized Quantum dealer for the Galician Region in Northwestern Spain. His business is strategically positioned for the sailing traffic of boats travelling from Northern Europe toward the Canary Islands, Caribbean, or Mediterranean. "I've had a great relationship with Quantum Sails Spain for many years and really respect Quantum's approach, so it's a great fit," says Alberto. "If you need help, don't hesitate to reach out; we are at your service."
