Axel Gadbin

Axel Gadbin was lucky enough to grow up by the sea in Cherbourg, France and enjoy all it has to offer. He started sailing at the age of six at the Cherbourg Sailing School. Later, he had the chance to sail an old Flusk Poker with his father to take part in local regattas. Today he sails a J/99, which brings a lot of pleasure and performance.

He joined the boating industry in 2008, starting out in boat sales. In 2014, he started his own business to devote himself to the world of sailboats, yachting, blue water cruising and regattas.

He is particularly involved in the J/99 Axe Sail project, and has been working for four years to optimize the sails and fittings on the company's boat. He has seen success in the performance of the Axe Sail-equipped J/99, taking second place in IRC2 and fifth in IRC 2H at the 2023 Rolex Fastent Race. The boat also took first in IRC 2H and IRC Overall at the 2024 Drheam Cup. The results are a testament to the racing talent of the duo, Maxime Mesnil and Hugo Feydit, and the quality of the Axe Sails team's preparation.

Jules Briand

Originally from Saint-Malo, Jules Briand moved to Cherbourg in 2007 to study technical sales specializing in the nautical sector. He continued his studies in Lorient, where he also worked as an offshore racing rigger. He then worked for around ten years in sailmaking and rigging in Granville before joining the Axe Sail team in 2019, first in Cherbourg, then Granville and finally Saint-Malo, a long-awaited return to his home town!

Over the years Jules has been lucky enough to take part in a number of IRC regattas between England and Brittany. Some of his favorites include Fastnet, Spi Ouest-France, Cowes-Dinard, and National Muscadet. He is still doing as many regattas as possible, but also doing more and more cruising on different types of craft, from caravels to old rigs.

Jules has his own history with Quantum Sails before Axe Sails' partnership began in 2024. During his studies, he worked for two years with a sailmaker in Saint-Malo, which became Quantum for a while.

He has observed Quantum Sails in a variety of regattas on maxi boats as well as in cruising on smaller boats, whether they're old or modern and he is happy to pick his connection to Quantum back up with Axe Sails' partnership with the brand.

Blandine Verdelhan

Blandine Verdelhan grew up in the Paris region of France and has been living in the Granvillais Basin for 12 years. Verdelhan discovered sailing on La Bisquine Granvillaise, a replica of a ship made famous by Victor Hugo. She volunteered as crew for three years and is now a crew member on a First Class 10. She also enjoys cruising the Channel Islands.

Verdelhan joined Axe Sail with a master's degree in fashion. The skills she obtained in sewing and the knowledge she acquired in sailing have enabled her to fully assume the role of sailmaker for Quantum Sails.

Verdelhan fell in love with sailing on a beautiful historic boat and she continues to gain firsthand sailing experience every week in regattas with her crew.
