Edin Pilav grew up in the beautiful town of Split, Croatia, and began sailing in the early 1990s. He excelled in the sport despite the challenging time for Croatia, as war destroyed the economy. Since 1994, Edin has participated in national and international regattas as a member of various crews. He is comfortable in any position on a boat, but is especially skilled as bowman, mast, pit, and trimmer. He has earned his Yacht Master certificate for up to 100 GT and has worked as bowman and boat captain in the past. For a few years, Edin worked as a sailing coach for the Optimist and 470 classes with excellent results. While coaching, he became more interested in aerodynamics and sail making.
In 2006, Edin entered the sail making business, perfecting his skills not just in Croatia, but also in Italy and Spain. Edin now lives and works in Zadar on the Adriatic coast. He owns a sail loft where he combines his extensive sailing experience with sail making knowledge and skills. If not in his loft, you can find Edin around the harbor preparing for the next regatta or at sea with friends.
