Since he was 18, Pietro Pinucci has been mixing the pleasure of sailing with the engineering behind sailing. Pinucci moved from Milan to Genova to complete a master's degree in naval architecture. He spent weekends sailing regattas, worked on the computer during the week, and successfully defended his thesis on a new downwind simulation model. After graduation, Pinucci began working with Quantum Italy, learning everything he could on the shop floor, from repairs to modifications. Before long, he began designing sails for important projects. From one design dinghies, such as the Finn or Fireball, to big boats, his design portfolio quickly grew. Pinucci brings a deep knowledge of sail shape, construction, and finishing to the Quantum team.
In his spare time, Pinucci sails in the Finn class and on ORC boats. "The only thing I know about sailing is that I don't know enough," Pinucci says. "Meeting and talking to someone is always a way to learn something, like jumping on a new boat and finding something you had never seen."
