Beacon Marine

Shaun Plomteaux has been passionate about sailing since his childhood in Oxnard, CA. Sailing Sabots in the Channel Islands Harbor at the age of seven, he quickly moved to Lasers and FJs. By the age of 14, Shaun was a sailing instructor with a local junior sailing program. He used his earnings as an instructor to buy his own Laser that he raced every chance he could. Since then, Shaun's obsession with sailing, and especially racing, has only grown. With over 25 years of experience as a cruising sailor, instructor, and racer, he has an all-encompassing understanding of sailboats.

After working at Beacon Marine in Ventura, CA, for over a decade, Shaun had the opportunity to take over the reins in 2020. Since then, he has worked hard to improve and expand Beacon Marine's services, supporting the area's race teams and cruisers alike. His company has sponsored local races and has rigged and outfitted many of the area's top racing yachts. He aims to help share his love and knowledge of sailing with the next generation of sailors, including his favorite crew, his two sons.
