Over 180 sailors in 19 classes competed last week in the 25th edition of Block Island Race Week hosted by Storm Trysail Club. Congratulations to all the Quantum teams turning in great performances in tight races that offered up some challenging conditions.
The Quantum-powered J/109 Storm owned by Richard Lyall and with Quantum’s Kerry Klingler on board won the 15 boat J/109 East Coast Championship. Strong finishes in the class were also turned in by Bill Sweetser on Rush (4th) and Skoot, owned by Jim Vos (5th).
The J/80s were also contesting their North Americans, and in that class Quantum had five boats in the top ten with Gary Panariello’s Courageous taking third place.
Quantum boats Paul Strauch’s Andiamo and Wicked 2.0, owned by Douglas Curtiss, went one, two in the J/111 division.
The IRC 1 class was dual-scored and the Q-powered TP52 Corsair, owned by the U.S. Naval Academy and skippered by Andy Beeler, stayed the course to take the win in HPR and second in IRC1.
