By Brian Janney, Quantum San Diego
This past weekend at the San Diego NOOD, new Quantum® customers had the speed winning the Flying Tiger 10m, J/80’s, Thistle and placing second in the Viper 640. This year for the San Diego NOOD, there were three race venues: the Coronado Roads Ocean Course, South Bay Course, and Mission Bay Course.
In the Flying Tiger class, Eric Schlageter’s Ruckus made the change to Quantum® sails, proving to be fast when it counted. The team was sitting in second place after the first day; but when the wind came up to 20+ for Sunday, no one could touch them as they won the last two races of the regatta. In the J/80’s Quantum’s Kerry Klinger sailed on Avet. Curt Johnson, who also made the change to Q™ sails for the first time, sailed fast winning half the races and the J/80 class by four points.
Up at the Mission Bay Course, David Tillson won the Thistle’s with a 1,1,2 line score.
At the South Bay course sailing in his first regatta, Brad Milligan’s Viper 640 Sinnerman finished 2nd overall.
